Untitled Puzzle Project
A downloadable game
I am developing a first-person puzzle game inspired by Portal, Superliminal, and Viewfinder. The environment plays a central role in the story, but the primary focus is on gameplay mechanics. The concept revolves around transforming 2D items into 3D objects to solve puzzles, with a narrative about NPCs gaining self-awareness and breaking the fourth wall. This project is still in the very early stages; many components are still being developed, with gray-boxing in progress and one mechanic semi-functional.
Here is a breakdown of the game’s inspirations:
- Game design: Portal, Superliminal, Viewfinder
- Environment: Circular rooms and hospital gardens, Serj Tankian’s “Elasticity” video, East European clinics
- Lore: The Talos Principle, Dan Harmon’s work, with an emphasis on NPCs gaining self-awareness.
- Texturing: Wes Anderson style, The Stanley Parable
